Fitness

If I’m not treating patients, you will usually find me in the gym or running on the treadmill at Barry’s. My passion for sports and fitness has allowed me to help everyone from professional athletes to the casual jogger. My unique treatment will not only help to prevent injury, but also help to maximise performance.

Depending on your level of fitness and how often you train, injuries are bound to occur from time to time. Low back pain often occurs from lifting heavy weights in the gym, particularly when doing dead lifts or squats. If the spine and pelvis are not aligned correctly, the added pressure on the low back when working out may result in a sprain to the joint or a strain of the muscle.

Lumbar disc injuries are another common occurrence following exercise. Disc injuries can range from minor bulges to severe herniations. The disc has a poor blood supply, and hence it can take a lot longer to heal. The chance of re-injury is also much higher. If left untreated, disc injuries can reoccur more frequently and more severely. My unique treatment can help to speed up the recovery process, and help strength the lumbar and surrounding soft tissues.

Other common injuries from exercise include joint sprains and muscle strains, shoulder and hip bursitis, rotator cuff injuries, tennis or golfers elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, patellar tracking dysfunction, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and more.

Treatment may involve chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, mobilisation exercises and Applied Kinesiology corrections to improve neurological function of the joints and soft tissues. I may prescribe stretching and strengthening exercises to assist with recovery, and I may give you dietary and nutritional advice to help reduce inflammation.

An Applied Kinesiology chiropractor is currently helping one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Novak Djokovic, continue to win grand slams into his mid-thirties and cement his place in history. My unique approach to fitness can help take your training and performance to the next level so that you can achieve your personal best.
